About

Our Mission

The Policy Innovation Exchange (PIX) aims to provide resources and technical assistance for public health leaders and decision-makers striving to improve health outcomes, increase efficiency, and advance health equity.

PIX supports public health leaders in learning how to utilize evidence-based policy development tools and resources to reduce morbidity, mortality, and disparities from HIV, viral hepatitis, STDs, and TB across the United States.

PIX is a dedicated law and policy technical assistance platform and resource library for evidence-based, comprehensive, and publicly accessible tools to understand how the application of laws and policies can inform public health practice. Our TA partners have in-depth experience in HIV, viral hepatitis, STD, and TB prevention and are available to provide meaningful, evidence-based TA tailored to the specific law and policy needs of public health leaders in their local jurisdictions.

Our Story

PIX – A Collaborative Effort to Improve Public Health.

The Policy Innovation Exchange for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention is a collaborative effort between NNPHI, its technical assistance partners, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) designed to provide law and policy resources to public health leaders regarding HIV, viral hepatitis, STDs, and TB. The PIX Portal’s goal is to assist public health decision-makers in navigating complex law and policy landscapes including issues unique to their state or local jurisdiction.

The evolving law and policy landscape can be complex and at times inaccessible, directly impacting communities affected by HIV, viral hepatitis, STDs, and TB. Our team and partners are experienced in navigating these complexities and have created PIX, with support from the CDC, to increase public health leaders capacity to utilize evidence-based policy development tools and resources to make meaningful change in HIV, viral hepatitis, STD, and TB prevention in their communities. As the law and policy landscape continues to change, we recognize the need for decision-makers to have access to ever-evolving technical assistance, support, and community across the fields of HIV, viral hepatitis, STD, and TB prevention. Our work includes the timely and responsive provision of law and policy technical assistance that is both insightful and intellectually rigorous, the development and dissemination of evidence-based tools and resources that equip public health leaders with the information they need, and the development of an in-depth centralized resource library accessible to the public.

Our Team

NNPHI has convened 5 external organizations to provide technical assistance on this project.

NNPHI is tasked with convening technical assistance partners and resource dissemination activities. Mobilizing more than 40-member public health institutes with over $2.2 billion in annual funding – as well as 10 university-based regional training centers, and 40 affiliates – NNPHI connects more than 8,000 subject-matter experts with organizational partners across the nation. Leveraging this network will contribute to PIX’s HIV, viral hepatitis, STD, and TB prevention goals. Our aim is to establish a truly collaborative technical assistance system that meets the needs of public health leaders where they are.

With an expansive organizational presence and activities across all 50 states, NNPHI is a go-to resource for analysis and best practices. We also provide important network connections for communities, government agencies, foundations, the health care delivery system, media, and academia.
